Getting to Kufstein Fortress by train
The train takes you direct to the ÖBB and DB stop in Kufstein. Kufstein train station, in the centre of the town, has connecting services and is the start of the Munich-Rosenheim – Kufstein, and Kufstein – Innsbruck rail routes. There is also a long-distance route every 2 hours from Vienna via Kufstein to Zurich, and from Munich via Kufstein to Bologna and Venice. The ÖBB Nightjet operates daily from Hamburg via Kufstein to Innsbruck. The S Bahn Tirol service operates hourly via Wörgl and Innsbruck to Telfs-Pfaffenhofen, and there is the Regional Express to Brennero / Brenner. Regionalbahn Meridian operates hourly from Munich to Kufstein and back.

Kufstein is a border station for Austria and Germany, with stops for the ICE, IC and Railjet services. This means that the town of Kufstein is ideal to get to by train. Starting from Kufstein you have the option of getting to your destination using the regional buses, or by taxi. Kufstein’s Stadtbus operates throughout Kufstein, every 20 minutes, with three lines - from Monday to Friday, 6.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. The ‘Regional’ and ‘Stadt’ buses can be used in the town area and in the Kufstein tariff zone. Alternatively, you can also get from one town to another via our reliable taxis. The local taxi ranks are at the train station forecourt, at Oberer Stadtplatz and at the district hospital.
